The 2018 Camry Introduces Toyota New Global Architecture to the U.S.

The 2018 Toyota Camry is produced at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing facility in Kentucky, and holds the honor of being the first vehicle inspired by the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) to be assembled in North America. The first vehicle built on TNGA is the current Prius that is assembled in Japan; by the year 2020, Toyota expects roughly half of all new Toyota vehicles around the world to benefit from TNGA.

Put simply, TNGA is based on two fundamental pillars: Core Strength and Emphasized Personality. Core Strength refers to the platform on which each vehicle is built, a platform that's shared across multiple models. Emphasized Personality refers to the freedom this provides engineers to allow them to turn their energies on accentuating each model's singular appeal.

With this program, Toyota expects to build ever-more-improved vehicles and help the company's manufacturing plants be more flexible and responsive to marketplace changes. The cost savings realized will then get reinvested into developing new technologies that lead to the production of even-better vehicles -- and thus the process continues.
