Do you know what the best selling hybrid in the United States is? The answer is the Toyota Prius and there is good reason for that. The Prius has a EPA-estimated 51 mpg city/48 mpg highway rating which makes the go to car for greater Mays Landing area drivers who want to save money on gas. Unfortunately don't expect the demand for the vehicle to go down as the popularity of the Prius seems to only grow as gas prices continue to climb.
That said, Toyota is planning for the increased demand for the Prius in the United States. Specifically, they're considering moving production of the lauded hybrid to one of its American factories by 2015. Why the long wait? Toyota plans to align the move with the launch of the fourth-generation Prius, which is likely to be due out around that time.
Another big reason for the wait is that Toyota must find the right parts suppliers within the United States to help them build a Prius that's every bit as high quality as the one that's assembled in Japan. This means finding companies that can supply them with inverters, electric motors and batteries - things that the Japanese automaker doesn't typically have to consider when building other models here.
Shore Toyota, located at 4236 Black Horse Pike Mays Landing, NJ 08330, will be keeping an eye on this developing story in the near future. And we invite you to stay tuned for more information on it as it becomes available. In need of a fuel-saving vehicle right now?
