Upon entering into the Spring Cup Series and Nationwide Series in 2007, Toyota chose to race its Camry mid-size car for two reasons:

  1. It's been the best-selling vehicle in the United States for the past 11 years consecutively.
  2. Cars.com has officially ranked it as the most American-made car in parts content for the last four years consecutively.

These two accomplishments stem directly from the hard work of the roughly 6,000 employees who assemble the Camry at the Toyota manufacturing facility in Georgetown, Kentucky. As such, the Toyota Racing Team knows they owe them their thanks. That's why several key members, including native Kentuckians Darrell and Michael Waltrip, recently visited the plant.

During their trip, Toyota Racing Team members toured the assembly lines, hosted a Q&A and gave plant employees a closer look at the Camry Racecar. As you can imagine, this was quite an honor for the plant's workers, but even more so for the drivers.

"I'm proud to be a Toyota team owner and to be driving a Camry in this year's Daytona 500, but I'm more proud that the Camry is built in my home state of Kentucky,"1 explains Michael Waltrip, driver of the No. 55 Toyota Camry and a two-time Daytona 500 champion.

Knowing this feeling of pride is mutual with fan as well, Toyota has specifically designed the 2013 Camry Racecar to more closely resemble the production model available here at 4236 Black Horse Pike Mays Landing, NJ 08330. Aside from giving the Camry Racecar a unique look on the track, this also gives diehard fans a chance to feel more connected to the high-speed action.
