Making the MIT Technology Review's 50 Most Disruptive Companies is quite the honor, even if it might not sound like it. In this case, "Disruptive" takes on an entirely different meaning from what many of us are used to. In fact, at Shore Toyota, we're happy to say it's a good thing, and for the second time in four years, Toyota has landed a spot on the coveted list.
When you think of new Toyota vehicles, you often think about their reliability. For years, that's been thanks to the innovative minds behind every facet of the vehicle, and it has put Toyota at the forefront. The automaker has caused its competition to change their ways of thinking and adapt; that's what "disruptive" means in this case.
In particular, MIT lauded the hybrid vehicles available from Toyota. They pointed to the new Prius Plug-In Hybrid as an example of a car that changed the game, forcing the competition to head back to the drawing board.
