One thing that endears the Toyota brand to the hearts of American's is that even though Toyota is a Japanese automaker, they build a large number of their new models in the U.S., like the popular Toyota Corolla.
This not only ensures the availability of quality new models in dealerships like Shore Toyota, it also makes them more affordable to drivers in the Atlantic City, NJ area and beyond, thanks to the use of globally-sourced Toyota parts.
Recently, Toyota announced that U.S.-Manufactured Toyota Corolla will soon be exported to 18 countries in the Caribbean and Latin American regions in 2014. With this extension, the automaker plans to top its own all-time high of exported new vehicles that are built in the U.S. The current record stands from 2013 when Toyota managed to export over 124,000 new U.S.-built models to 21 different global markets. That figure was a whopping 45 percent increase over its expert figured from 2011.
Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota's North America Region attributes the export and sales success the brand has seen recently to its dedicated Toyota employees, explaining, "Toyota's U.S. manufacturing operations continue to grow as a key supplier of cars and trucks for global markets, which is only possible thanks to the dedication and high-quality work of our team members here," Lentz says. "The export of U.S.-built Corolla sedans to Latin America and the Caribbean will help to further solidify our U.S. manufacturing base."1
Toyota's main manufacturing facility in Tupelo, Mississippi alone employs over 2,000 workers a d reflect the fruits of an $800 million investment. It is at this plant that the Toyota brand plans to build the over 7,500 Corollas, that will be shipped to these two new markets.
