The 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show is just a few days away and for a while now, we've been anticipating the reveal of the innovative Toyota Hybrid-R Concept. So far, all we've had to go off of was a preview image that was released in September, but now the first official rendering was unveiled and gives us many more details, before its official debut.

The biggest yet most pleasing surprise, is that the Hybrid-R Concept is based on a vehicle that has been a staple of our new Toyota inventory since its introduction in 1999.

For this exciting new model, the Japanese automaker took the popular Yaris hatchback and gave its some extra power using design elements from their TS030 hybrid racer that took second place at this year's Le Mans.

The Yaris Hybrid-R Concept will also exhibit an increase in power thanks to a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder Global Race Engine (GRE) that powers the front two wheels, but also two electric motors that will power the back wheels to generate 400 horsepower. The new model also features four-wheel drive which will ensure a versatile drive that can easily navigate a range of terrain.

Stay tuned to Shore Toyota's blog for more updates once the concept makes it debut, and other brand news.
