The Toyota Research Institute (TRI) recently shared a video showcasing its Guardian and Chauffeur autonomous vehicle platforms, providing four different demonstrations of this cutting-edge technology.

Meant to detail the progress that TRI has made with Platform 2.1, the next-generation advanced safety research vehicle, the video starts off with two examples of the Chauffeur system at work before finishing with two viewings of the Guardian system. Platform 2.1 is capable of testing both systems on one vehicle, through the use of a shared sensor stack and software.

For the past quarter-century, through its Toyota Production System Support Center (TSSC),Toyota Motor North America has shared its Toyota Production System (TPS) operational practices and philosophies with small businesses and non-profit organizations throughout North America. The intent is to furnish non-Toyota organizations with the tools that they need to solve their operational problems, maximize their resources and preserve and create jobs.

The 2018 Toyota Camry is produced at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing facility in Kentucky, and holds the honor of being the first vehicle inspired by the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) to be assembled in North America. The first vehicle built on TNGA is the current Prius that is assembled in Japan; by the year 2020, Toyota expects roughly half of all new Toyota vehicles around the world to benefit from TNGA.
