It's no secret that Toyota wants drivers all over the world to go green. What you might not be aware of, however, are all the ways the automaker is encouraging such behavior. Here at Shore Toyota, models like the Prius and Camry Hybrid are a great way to lower your carbon footprint in your everyday commute to your Vineland and Turnersville area job, but Toyota has many other tricks up its sleeve.

One that recently caught our eye is the National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation. Now in its second year, this initiative is aimed at getting as many cities as possible to commit to lowering their water use, thereby conserving one of our most valuable natural resources.

This year's event took place from April 1st through the 30th, with Toyota and its partners at the Wyland Foundation tracking the efforts of each city participating in the event. At the end of the month, five cities were declared winners within their respective population categories. They are as follows:

  • Denver, CO
  • Tucson, AZ
  • West Palm Beach, FL
  • Bremerton, WA
  • And Laguna Beach, CA

And what have these cities won? Each resident of a winning city who participated in the event will be eligible to win prizes drawn at an event in Denver on May 10th. Specific prizes up for grabs include gift certificates to Lowes, water-saving fixtures and a Toyota Prius c as the grand prize.

Shore Toyota, located at 4236 Black Horse Pike Mays Landing, NJ 08330, wishes to congratulate the winning cities, and hopes next year's National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation proves equally successful. This year, residents from all 50 states pledging to save over 742 million gallons of water. We can only imagine what next year's event will bring.
