The new clean green fuel of the future may come from the deep blue sea.

The Toyota Mirai runs on hydrogen. Hydrogen can come from many sources, including manure. One potential source of hydrogen is from water.

The process of electrolysis separates hydrogen atoms from the water molecule by running an electric current through it. This causes some swapping around of electrons, and before you know it, hydrogen gas forms.

The great thing is, the water used by no means needs to be clean drinking water. In fact, salty water conducts electricity better than fresh water. Even lemonade could be used!

If we establish an infrastructure to use wind and solar energy to power electrolysis, then hydrogen is looking like a very clean fuel alternative.
